The alluring flavors of Gulf coast cuisine will intermingle with the exquisite melodies of urban and contemporary Jazz musician Nick Colionne at the culinary kick-off celebration for the 4th Annual Clearwater Beach Restaurant Week on May 10,2013.
With a palate for superlative eats and an ear for music, Restaurant Week organizers are gearing up for what is anticipated to be the most successful week-long event yet since its inaugural event in 2009.
Restaurant Week Chair Fran Bartlett said, “My goal with the Restaurant Week Kick-Off Party this year is to maximize the art of dining by infusing the sounds of a talented jazz artist.”
An unparalleled musician with a natural comedic flair, Nick Colionne has blazed a trail to the top of the ranks of today’s stars. Combining jazz, R&B, blues and funk, he has an unmistakable sound and vibe that is instantly recognizable. Nick takes the guitar to unexpected places every time he performs and his rich baritone vocals delight his audiences. With style and energy to spare, he is one of a kind.
A Chicago native, Nick was honored with the prestigious 2007 International Instrumental Artist of the Year Award at the Wave Jazz Awards, succeeding 2006 winner Chris Botti. He was nominated for the award again in 2009. He was nominated as Guitarist of the Year and Entertainer of the Year by the American Smooth Jazz Awards in 2010 and received the Wayman Tisdale Humanitarian Award for his ongoing commitment to mentoring children and his work in the community and nationally in support of breast cancer causes. Other honors include Alumnus of the Year at Malcolm X College in Chicago, Artist of the Year at the 2011 Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival and Performer of the Year for JazzTrax Festivals in 2010 and 2011.
